The MRPT technique can track more than one radioactive particles simultaneously. New electronics and algorithms have been developed to allow for such measurements. Both MRPT and dual source gamma ray computed tomography have the same electronics and can be used for both techniques. MRPT technique enables measuring the 3D flow field of systems of more than one phase, systems of high solids content which would cause trapping a particle in a stagnant zone or slow rate of data acquisition, systems of particles of different size, shape and density, etc.
